How many times have you been retained as an expert? What percentage of your work is for the plaintiff and what percentage for the defendant? How many times have you been deposed?
Shortly after receiving my Ph.D. from Temple University in 1990, I was hired as a professor at UCLA. During my lengthy academic career at UCLA, I taught gerontology to social workers, nurses, medical residents and other healthcare professionals. These courses required that I cover relevant state and federal regulations. Consequently I gained knowledge of state and federal regulations by familiarizing myself with the codes and keeping abreast of updates and changes to the codes over the years. I was also trained to be a Long term Care Ombudsman and was an active ombudsman for four years. That work required extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations. In addition, I received my Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) administrator license. The training and exam for the RCFE administrator license focused on pertinent regulations.
